3mm Aluminium Composite Material (ACM) is our strongest and most rigid sign board. It consists of two thin aluminium sheets bonded around a polyethylene core, creating a lightweight but extremely stable panel.

Choose ACM when you want a professional sign that will remain in place for the long term, particularly outdoors.

ACM is highly durable, weather resistant and will not rust. It also remains much flatter than plastic-based boards when exposed to changing temperatures.

PVC Foamboard, often known by trade names such as Foamex, Forex or Palite, is a solid, lightweight PVC sheet with a smooth printable surface.

It provides a more substantial and professional appearance than fluted board while remaining considerably lighter than aluminium composite.

The 3mm version works particularly well for smaller signs and displays, while 5mm provides additional rigidity for larger panels.

PVC Foamboard is also M1/B1 fire-rated, making it particularly useful for signage and displays within many commercial and public environments.

Using PVC Foamboard Outdoors

PVC Foamboard can be used outside, but it naturally expands and contracts as temperatures change.

In particularly warm conditions or direct sunlight, expansion can be up to approximately 5mm per linear metre.

If you are installing a board inside a frame or recess, allow sufficient clearance around the edges. Restricting the board as it expands can cause it to bow or warp.

For exposed, permanent exterior installations where dimensional stability is particularly important, we recommend choosing Aluminium Composite instead.

Our 4mm Fluted Board is a lightweight twin-wall polypropylene sheet with a corrugated internal structure. You may also know this type of material as Correx, Corex or corrugated plastic.

It is our most economical rigid sign board and is particularly suited to temporary and short-term signage where low weight, simple installation and value are important.

Despite its low weight, Fluted Board is waterproof and durable enough for a wide variety of indoor and outdoor applications.

Fluted Board can be fixed to suitable surfaces using screws or other mechanical fixings and is particularly useful for attaching to fencing, posts and temporary structures.

Like other plastic sheet materials, some expansion can occur when exposed to temperature changes, so suitable allowance should be made when installing within frames.

Your design is printed directly onto the face of the board using professional UV printing technology.

UV inks are cured during printing, producing a tough printed surface with excellent detail, strong colour and good resistance to outdoor conditions.

Direct-to-board printing also means there is no printed vinyl layer covering the face of the sign, eliminating the possibility of vinyl beginning to lift around the edges.

Matt or Gloss Finish?

Standard Matt Finish – Included

Our standard option is the direct UV print without an additional gloss laminate.

This gives the board a clean, relatively low-sheen appearance and is suitable for the majority of indoor and outdoor signage.

The reduced reflection can also make text easier to read when signs are positioned underneath bright lighting.

For most applications, this is the option we recommend.

Gloss Lamination

For additional protection, your sign can be finished with a clear gloss laminate.

The laminate gives colours a richer, glossier appearance while providing an additional protective layer over the printed surface.

It is particularly useful for:

Signs positioned at street level
Busy public areas
Frequently handled signs
Retail environments
Signs likely to require regular cleaning
Areas at greater risk of graffiti

Gloss laminate can also act as an anti-graffiti surface, making many marks considerably easier to remove than from an unlaminated print.

Maximum Single Board Size

The maximum size we can produce as one continuous panel is 2400 × 1200mm.

The board can be oriented either landscape or portrait, provided neither dimension exceeds the maximum sheet dimensions.

Larger signs can be divided across several accurately sized panels which are installed next to one another to create the complete design.

Otherwise, we’ll work out a sensible panel arrangement designed to minimise the number of sections while avoiding joins through important areas such as logos, text or faces wherever practical.

For the best possible print quality, we recommend supplying print-ready artwork as a PDF.

Artwork should ideally be:

Supplied at finished size or at an obvious proportional scale
CMYK colour
Supplied with 3mm bleed on all sides
Created at the correct width-to-height ratio
Supplied with fonts converted to outlines or embedded
Supplied with images embedded
Free from crop marks or registration marks within the bleed
High enough resolution for its intended viewing distance

Where possible, logos and text should be supplied as vector artwork for maximum sharpness.

For photographic artwork, we normally recommend images of approximately 150dpi at finished size for large-format signage.

Keep important text, logos and other critical elements comfortably inside the finished trim edge.

For very large signs that will be produced in multiple panels, consider the possible position of joins when laying out important text or graphics.

All three materials can be used outdoors, but choosing the right material depends heavily on how long the sign will remain in place.

For permanent outdoor signage:
Choose Aluminium Composite (ACM).

For professional indoor signage or medium-term use:
Choose PVC Foamboard.

For temporary, promotional or budget-conscious signage:
Choose Fluted Board.

Location also matters. A temporary Fluted Board attached to fencing has very different requirements from a permanent shop sign mounted several metres above ground.

Production Time

Once your artwork has been approved, most banner flag orders are printed, pressed, sewn and prepared within 3–5 working days. Larger orders or more complex jobs may take slightly longer, but we will always confirm expected timings when your order is placed.

Artwork Approval

Production begins once your artwork proof has been approved. If changes are required, our team will update the design and send a revised proof before printing.

UK Delivery

Orders are shipped using a tracked courier service. Delivery is typically next working day within mainland UK once production is complete.

ACM is an aluminium composite panel and is the strongest, most dimensionally stable and longest-lasting option.

Foamex is a common trade name for PVC Foamboard. It is a solid, lightweight plastic board that provides a smooth, professional finish without the additional weight and cost of aluminium composite.

Fluted Board is a lightweight corrugated polypropylene sheet. It is the most economical option and is particularly suited to temporary signs, events, estate agency boards and construction signage.

Dibond is a well-known brand name for aluminium composite sheet.

Our product is referred to generically as Aluminium Composite Material or ACM and uses the same basic construction: two thin aluminium outer skins surrounding a rigid polyethylene core.

As with any installed sign, suitable fixings and installation methods should be used for the location.

There is effectively no fixed maximum size for a complete sign because larger graphics can be divided into multiple panels and installed together.

Our direct UV printing process is capable of reproducing photographs, gradients, logos, text and detailed full-colour artwork.
